Is Susan lonely? is a 60-minute dance performance with an ensemble of 4 dancers and 3 musicians. It forms the last part of a trilogy about social isolation. The performance illuminates the destructive nature of the concept of an ideal self on our relationship to the world. It explores whether being divided with our own self is the basis of loneliness. As in all the works of choreographer Jasmine Ellis, dance, language and live music are interwoven into a common performative whole.
The music for this project will be developed by the three multi-instrumentalists Maximilian Hirning, Lukas Bamesreiter and Lena Geue in close collaboration with the dancers during the entire rehearsal process. As part of the series Schau Mer Mal, the musicians present first insights into their songs and explain the background and inspirations for their composition.
